Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) 2022.
Deaf Link Uganda is marking the day with Economic Empowerment for young Deaf people. Deaf youth are operating a stall: exhibiting and selling arts & craft products made by Deaf People, at this year's Christmas Book Fair organised by DLU Partners: Goethe Zentrum-Kampala (GZK) taking place right now in Kampala.
What a fantastic inclusive economic breakthrough: Access for All!
How wonderful to see all that is happening to promote IDPD in the community!
Nairobi was also celebrating IDPD with a public event discussing the Economic Empowerment of People with Disability with this year’s event with Kenya Union Blind and Red Cross.
CBM partners with KUB and looks like a great event!
The day was marked in a big way in Meru County, Kenya having 3000 persons in attendance.
Another was the Kibwezi Disabled People Organization (KDPO) in Makueni County also holding activities to celebrate International Disability where there were more than 1000 attendees. The role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world. Key messages are seen in Facebook activities such as dancing, singing, poems, and speeches from People with Disabilities and Parents, stakeholders and media coverage. There was also an exhibition of appliances and baskets from KDPO. Volunteer Service Overseas (Kenya) and the Makueni County Government assisted with snacks and T-shirts. There was no transport, but KDPO sourced a partner to carry the exhibition appliances and materials.
Simply by sharing it gives ideas for others! There is so much to be inspired by if we continue to share what we are doing.
